Blumberg: Early Genetic Research (2 of 2)
- Baruch Blumberg describes looking for matches between sera from different donors.
Baruch Blumberg, MD, PhD, describes his research collecting serum proteins and looking for matches between antigens and antibodies in different samples. His first important discovery involved a polymorphism in the low-density lipoproteins (known as the Ag system). Soon after, he came upon a startling match between the sera of an Australian aborigine and a New Yorker with hemophilia.
